Full Moon Ceremony, Padangbai
A full moon ceremony in Padangbai, east Bali. The men of the village spend a day chopping chilli in bowls the size of car tyres, then start again before dawn — satay over coals in the street, rice laid out on paper as the sun comes up. By mid-morning they eat together on the floor of the hall. The next day the street is empty, and the women and children arrive for the celebration.
