Solstice Reflections.

Welcome to my new site and the first blog post. With this blog, I plan to share my work and adventures with you and also share photography tips, kit reviews, and up and coming events I will be planning. As you know it’s been a crazy few months and 2020 will be remembered for being one strange time in history. Like many people, my work has gone quiet due to travel restrictions and the fact that photography and filming are quite a sociable activity making it hard not to be close to people.

During this downtime, it’s given me a chance to create this new site and also carry on with our adventures but closer to home. In other blog posts, I’ll share some little micro-adventures we have had from the doorstep.

The one I want to share in this post is from last weekend, Summer Solstice. We wanted to spend it next to a stone circle, the obvious place is Stonehenge but it’s way to busy and this year it was closed and was being “live-streamed” I’m sure the ancient druids would be turning in their burrows. Our first choice was the Rollright Stones in Oxfordshire to visit but found out that it was also closed due to the current situation. I thought of other options and remembered a lovely stone circle we discovered whilst visiting a friends cottage in the Peak District. It was quiet with stunning surroundings and had a feeling we would be on our own.

So on Saturday afternoon we packed the van up and headed up to Derbyshire. Before we left I wanted to make sure this site was live as I wanted it online on the solstice to fit in with my intentions moving forward. As soon as it was live we jumped in the van and headed off to the Peaks. and parked up and went for a wander over to the circle, on our arrival we knew it was a perfect choice.

Quickly heading back to to the van we knew it was getting close to sunset so got some food and kit to keep us dry and warm then headed back to the stones. During the sunset, I grabbed some photos and headed back to join Martina to sit in the stones and enjoy the last moments of the sunset and reflect on the current time past and present. Thinking of loved ones, people in our lives, and also thinking about our future as we want to see it..
